RETEMA’s Smart & Digital Water Solutions event featured the managing director of BILANZ QUALITAT® with the talk “Solutions for online multi-metal monitoring”, aimed at more efficient management of treatment plants.
Measuring metals is complex and normally requires specialist laboratories, which take at least 24–48 h to deliver the result. By then the discharge that needs treating may already have passed through or left the facility, with the resulting problems.
The biggest cost of water quality measurement for companies is staff, but there is another cost that appears in no budget: remediating facilities after an accidental or deliberate discharge.
Being able to measure 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, is essential for making immediate decisions, sending alarms and alerts that autonomously resolve or prevent later problems.
Online heavy metal measurement with BILANZ QUALITAT® equipment provides real-time information on the concentration of these elements in water, avoiding all kinds of later problems and enabling immediate decisions about the monitored water body.
The system increases the quality and quantity of the data obtained and ensures full traceability.
Multi-metal measurement is handled by equipment that can measure up to 14 metals (Cd, Cu, Mn, Pb, Sb, Sn, Zn, As, Hg, Fe, Ni, Co, etc.) at the same point with a single instrument.
These instruments are accurate enough to be compared with laboratory measurement, with readings in the microgram-per-litre (µg/L) range.
