Global Omnium’s GOLAB-Gamaser laboratory acquires reagent-free portable COD, BOD and TOC analysers
GOLAB-Gamaser, the water technology centre of the Global Omnium group, has adopted BILANZ QUALITAT® portable equipment to measure COD, BOD and TOC for discharge monitoring, with no need for reagents except for calibration.
The managing director of BILANZ QUALITAT® handed over the equipment to José Plaza, head of SARS-CoV-2 monitoring in wastewater, at GOLAB’s premises on the Paterna industrial estate (Valencia).
GOLAB is the Global Omnium group’s water technology centre. Among other things, it coordinates COVID-19 monitoring in wastewater and smart meter remote reading services. With this addition, the laboratory is investing in the latest measurement technologies and greater traceability of measurements.
The new instruments measure organic matter in wastewater (COD, BOD and TOC) without reagents, except those needed for calibration, reducing laboratory waste and simplifying day-to-day work.
Key advantages of these instruments include:
• Results in about 10 seconds.
• Traceable calibration.
• Use both in the laboratory and in the field, adapting to different types of sample.
• They can be left measuring continuously in gullies and manholes, powered by a small battery, to support decisions on the condition of infrastructure and on discharge monitoring.
These features enable faster decisions in discharge monitoring and instant checks in the field that previously meant waiting for laboratory results.
